"They were only in study groups together. They weren't friends. Yet he now goes on TV every night yammering on about her."

The NY Post reports what "one source" says about Jeffrey Toobin and Elena Kagan.

IN THE COMMENTS: danielle says:
this snippet is like teenage gossip where somone (Jeffrey in this case) knows the cool kids, but they dont like him as much as he thinks they do and so they make fun of him behind his back.
Precisely!

i've never heard jeffrey say anything more than that they were in study groups together (which isn't insignificant).

... really, this piece was another way to bring up that out of wedlock child.

Isn't she confirmed yet? Why all the blather about her secret self that no one knows about any nominee. Her femaleness seems to be the only issue that is being used as mud. If we don't like liberal Supreme Court votes, then we must WIN the Presidential election in 2012... which means we must not fall for a PR release on a pretty young sure loser meant to act as the place holder for Jeb Bush in 2016. We cannot wait that long.

Even though I don't particularly like Toobin, being in "study groups" (plural) with a person in law school does give you some insight into their personality, work habits, scholarship and ideology.

The the link only says he said "she pretty much keeps to herself."

Even he's completely off the mark on that one, it's not exactly like he's claiming Kagan "saved my life in 'Nam."

Wait a minute ... Elena Kagan in this scenario is a "cool kid" ?

I just don't know what to say to that. That's like someone trying to convince me that Janet Reno once was a cheerleader.

in elite universities, the cool kids are typically the smartest kids.
