The NYT is hoping the GOP sticks its fingers in the fan.

There's no other explanation for choosing that photograph to illustrate this article.

The Gray Lady is hoping the GOP sticks more than that in the fan.

Actually, it's the Tea Party that's giving the Lefties fits. Left up to the RNC crowd, the Republicans would be where they were in January '09.

I voted the election is over for me and I am ready for something new.

Anytime a Republican waves and a the NY Times shows a picture the Left is sending a subtle message... doesn't that look like a sig heil??

"Actually, it's the Tea Party that's giving the Lefties fits."

The Tea Party is also giving "righties" the fits.

Remember ... the Tea Party has removed from office more Republicans than Democrats so far. Just ask Lisa Murkowski (or Bob Bennett or Mike Castle).

We're cleaning our own house first. And then we're going to clean the House of Representatives. And then we're going to clean the White House.

Lots of cleansing to do yet.

We're just getting started.

That's a weird angle for a photograph.

Was the photographer kneeling in front of them, or lying on his back on the floor?

Possibly. Or maybe they were standing on a stage or raised platform of some kind.

Word verification: pestrap.

When I was growing up in Sacramento, a shopping center Santa arrived by Huey and stepped out the door raising his hand to wave to the kids.

pretty nasty for all concerned

Oh also...

The headline is a setup. When the GOP does not take the Senate, this will be hailed as a victory for Obama.

I have to disagree with NYT. My expertise is better than theirs. I already predicted this:

Reid has won (NV). Boxer has won (CA). Murray has won (WA). Feingold has won (WI). Etc.

Democrats will have 54 seats on Nov. 3 (day after election).

This is the beginning of the end of Tea Party/GOP. The total end will happen on Election Day in 2012. On that day the re-election of the best Administration (Obama-Biden) will be finalized.

Get real. Murkowski and Castle are righties like Willie Whitewater is a centrist. Both are hard-core RINOs and should have been gone long ago.

Getting rid of the tax and spend crowd means getting rid of the enablers; the soft-core socialists who go along to get along hoping some of the crumbs will fall their way.

IMO the NYT simply wants everyone to see the GOP's head Senator sharing body language with Rand Paul whom is someone easily known to be what the NYT calls all of the Republicans: ultra right wing. So all moderates are warned. But McConnell can handle the Paul problem later after the election

I think the picture conjurs an image of the "deep south," where meetin's are held in uninsulated steel buildings otherwise used as tobacco barns and revival tents.

EDH... It may surprise you, but in the deep south we have actually built buildings where people meet and have social events. For example Atlanta has the most passenger air traffic of any American city, and held the most industry trade shows/conventions of any city until las Vegas caught up recently. We even somehow found somewhere outside of our revival tents and tobacco barns to hold the Olympic Games 14 years ago.

Actually, to get a better table at Martha's Vineyard. But yes, same point.

And I'm sorry, but I don't like how well-groomed and tanned the Minority Leader looks. He should appear dog-tired pale and haggard, so we feel that he's been fighting on the floor for America, not sipping cocktails at some Beltway Lounge.

Heh. I just cut-n-pasted that to his staff.

Professor, what do you want to name photo interpretation of lefty newspapers?

Wince said...

I was suggesting the image was selected by the NYT editor precisely to conjure a hoary stereotype.

Yah I see that now. Sry.

I really don't like it when the Annual Meeting I attend is in Atlanta. San Antonio and New Orleans are better venues. San Diego was great, but that was apparently just a one shot deal. Phoenix was nice too. This year is Seattle (!) in January (!!!!). I'm taking a raincoat.

On the other hand there are many folks who think that Atlanta, Northern Virgnia and the entire state of Florida are no longer in the South.

Perhaps they intended for that fan to represent a whirlybird.

"Whirlybird - an AIRCRAFT WITHOUT WINGS".

Austin too (for those of you who don't think of Texas as a nation, as I do).

Notes of a Roman Infantryman

We should not have given up our right to secede. The United States no longer controls our border with Mexico. The Drug Cartels do.

The President has admitted he will not defend Texan life and property until we support his version of immigration reform.

On November 2nd, we are marching back to Rome.

Mitch McConnel is def not good for the image of the GOP among young, savvy, hip and fit voters. He's the typical jowled, fat-cat Republican they hate.

Why does the NY Times mock Obama in this picture (page 15 of Monday's paper)?

Obama: "My armpit really stinks."
Reid: "Yeah it does."
