Though Santorum got the 2 big wins yesterday, Romney won more delegates.

41 Romney, 35 Santorum...

But, Rick thinks he won. That’s exactly why he can’t.

BTW, according to this poll, 21% of Republican primary participants in Alabama believe that interracial marriage should be illegal. In Mississippi, 29% of Republican primary participants believe that interracial marriage should be illegal. o_O

Indeed, mittens in a nutshell as he can't relate to the common man, corporate raider notwithstanding, but he knows how to cash his check gained from the misery of others.

Plus he's not likable and the conundrum/comedy of his losing to (2) other train wrecks who are also not likable w/no $$$ lol.

All his other problems aside, mittens really doesn't want to be president, much like Bush43 he has daddy issues.

That's a brave allegation given the obvious "daddy issues" of the current resident at 1600 Penn Ave.

Shiloh,

Willard is very likable and the Professor and I adore him. Please try to say three nice things about Willard today.

Thank you.

From a standpoint of who got more delegates, yes, yes he did.

Yesterday once again proved that Willard always wins! :D

It was odd to hear Gingrich bloviate about how the frontrunner isn't much of one if he's always coming in third, which perfectly described himself.

Gingrich is like Obama, the less one sees of him, the more positive the vibe.

Yes, I suppose that's true if you overlook the fact that Gingrich isn't the frontrunner. o_O

KCFleming said...

Willard, it's a reference not to running in front, but always being in second or third.

A moment's reflection might have...

Oh.

Never mind.

I ♥ Willard said...

So the word "frontrunner" is not a reference to running in front, but always being in second or third?

Fascinating. Althouse readers are filled with so much knowledge. Thanks for sharing! :)

I'll type slowly and use small words, Willard, so you'll understand.

It was ironic for Gingrich to bitch about someone always coming in third.

Definition of ironic, just to help you out.

Romney should leave his surrogates to make the delegates argument. He should focus on going after Obama's failures. Focus on how he will address the Romneycare/Obamacare muddle. Give more interviews and be out there and increase his visibility talking about what is wrong and how he will correct the course.

KosKidz robopoll. Only ♥ and bathtub swabbie take it seriously.

Yeah, the whole Fox interview and Gingrich's speech was illogical and crazy. Ann should put up a new thread on just that.

Mitt is almost halfway to the nomination (495 delegates out of 1,144 needed).

Missourah is next on Saturday. Who are you going to vote for, ScottM?

I'm still undecided overall, but I like that they're having to fight it out. I'm not one who feels like we should take it easy on the candidates so they'll be fresher for the general election.

That's the equivalent of saying we should go easy on training special ops forces so they won't be tuckered out on their mission. They need to be battle hardened in all kinds of conditions. That's the thing I like about this primary.

Ah, yes. But the more apt analogy is that you don't send your special forces team on a brutal training op out in the backcountry the day before they are to do the real deal.

But that's not what he was doing and you know it. He was making fun of a frontrunner who keeps finishing third:

"If you're the front-runner and keep coming in third, you're not much of a front-runner."

Let me repeat this since you seem to be a bit dim: Gingrich's quote references finishing third as the frontrunner. Got it now?

I'll type slowly and use small words, Willard, so you'll understand.

Speaking of being dim, why do you think typing slowly helps someone understand what you're communicating? o_O

Every time I think edutcher has said the dumbest thing I've ever read on the internet, he lowers the bar again.

According to the NY Times delegate count, Willard has about 43% of the delegates he needs to win the nomination with 54% of the delegates remaining.

Well, ScottM, since the election isn't until November, I don't think your analogy is all that apt. Plus consider these guys are all very wealthy, so getting away to rest and recupe is easy for them. They also have sizeable staffs (no double entendre intended) to handle their affairs. I'm not worried about them being 'ridden hard and put away wet', to quote an equestrian metaphor.

Scott M said...

Good point. On the other hand, this is politics. A single wayward sentence can easily stick with (or sink) a candidate regardless of how long there is until the general election. In that sense, it's always just before the general election, so to speak.

45% -- Very Conservative.

76% -- Republicans

At about Q20, I'd start to feel like my intelligence was being insulted. What's with the question making Gingrich go away, but keeping Paul?

It's an odd duck of a poll., with people's answers all over the place. Plus, wackos.

Hoosier Daddy said...

"... This doesn't trouble anyone else? o_O.."

Not really since 20% of any demographic tends to be a little out there.

I recall a poll where a higher percentage of Democrats believed 9/11 was committed by Bush and Cheney.

Matt Sablan said...

If I were taking the poll, I'd very quickly be able to tell, during that last battery of questions after the election ones, that the people making the poll wanted to get a story out of it. Those are the sorts of questions partisans ask, not pollsters. I wouldn't've lied to them and answered honestly, but I wonder how many people default to screw the pollster when he's a jerk position, because I don't believe 30% think 9/11 was an inside job or 45% believe Obama is a Muslim, like this poll says.

Joe Schmoe said...

Sure; but that's a very well-known risk of the job. All these guys have been in the field for a long time and have dealt with it. To continue with the special ops analogy, it's like saying they shouldn't train with any live ordnance or they might get hurt. The benefits of training with it outweigh the risk because it simulates the real deal and prepares you more thoroughly for success.

Yeah, but IHeart, the point is, the candidate who "keeps coming in third" is Gingrich. Romney occasionally comes in third, especially in states where the voters believe bizarre things about interracial marriage and Obama's religion. Gingrich is mired in third in most states, especially states where the GOP voters aren't kooks. If not fourth.

Gingrich has another bizarre attack line against Romney, claiming that his wins should be discounted if they occur in blue states. He's saying the Republicans should only nominate a sure loser, as proof of his purity. Feelings...nothing more than feelings...

John Stodder said...

If I recall correctly, about a third of surveyed Democrats believe that.

I believe it is also true that Obama has "failed to denounce" them. So, by the logic of the Democrats, this must be Obama's true beliefs as well.

Willard "appears" to have a very nice wife and family, so in that respect, he's very much the common man ... Kate Gosselin and the Kardashians aside. ;)

Plus many Wall St. execs are quite bullish on Willard. Indeed, as their bottom lines are quite compatible.

And after the election Willard should have beaucoup time to work extensively on all his shortcomings, both foreign and domestic. :D Always a good thing.

How can you not root for someone like mittens as he is always a work in progress, trying to improve his persona. Hopefully acquiring a personality in the near future! :)

When you look at it, the math is bad for Saint Torum.
On a night that gave Santorum two states deep in Southern evangelical Jesus Land - the holy man with the famously dying daughter (best dying political prop since Saint Elisabeth Edwards made hearts gush for her pluck and determination JOhn would win whatever it took..) -
STILL Lost the delegate race to Mitt Romney!!!

Because Romney was close in evangelical JesusLand, but won Hawaii and Samoa decisively..he got more delegates than Santorum did.
43 to the Saint's 36.

The story of Tuesday is even when Saint Torum gets the Southern fundies, Romney widens his delegate lead.

In Romney's case it's refreshing to see he's not pandering to the Christian Right. Romney is a crossover candidate. You don't win moderates and independents that will decide the 2012 Election by waving a transvaginal ultrasound paddle.

Well, since your apology is obviously sincere, I'll gladly accept it. I do suggest you see a professional about your anger issues, though.

My, you are one trick pony...errr vixen. Sorry, your Adams Apple keeps distracting me.

Oh, I see, you openly fantasize about men. In that case, you'll probably want to follow a male around Althouse. I hope you find happiness in your endeavor.
