"Tree gifted by President Obama to Israel this morning is dug up hours later for 'pest' testing."

This, after that car breakdown...

A foreign trip is all about the photo ops and symbolism...

So, you've got to wonder who's controlling the spectacle.

I heard Anthony Weiner was coming back.

Guess which pest. President Obama says Israel settlements activity in West Bank not constructive or appropriate.

Yes, his foreign trip is going sooo much better than the Romster's (at least the Romster was right).

They were checking the tree for bugs.

Electronic ones.

I liked Netanyahu's remark about Obama's incestuous relationship with the US media, I think he delivered his message.

We all know Obama and his team is a big clusterf**k when it comes to governing. But when you have the race card, abortion card, gay marriage card and fellating media; everything's good.

Hey, where's TheUnreasonableTroll telling us all about "Obama is taking a victory tour to view the ashes of Bibi's career in attempting to influence US elections. There can't be a much sweeter form of revenge for Obama than getting to watch Bibi repeatedly choke over the words 'two state solution'".

Looks like all the revenge is on the Moslem.

Yes, he's like a reverse King Midas.

Same one coordinating trip as leading this country -- old term SNAFU.

When did the word "gifted" come into common use? Or, more to the point, why? The word "given" used to work just fine.

With an ally like Obama, Netanyahu doesn't need to find his enemies.

He has the ruler of his enemies inside his house playing like he is an ally.

Will Obama depose Netanyahu? Stay tuned.

Doesn't really matter when your goal is to destroy America.

Um. President Obama? I'm pretty sure he is in charge of who he has around him and on decisions. It comes with the whole "President" label.

It is nice that even though he is the poster child for "Inept University Teacher" with no brains that the press continues to cover for him.

If he tries, the next burning bush he sees may be the one inside his pants.

The article also changes the story to say that gas was put in the car instead of diesel. That will ruin the fuel lines and require more fixing. It probably runs on biodiesel, knowing Obama.

I have advised Obama to give a hybrid.

Isn't this about the fifth trip where it's all been one big SNAFU after another?

Of course, we haven't seen Moochelle go strutting through Yad Vashem in a kaffiyeh yet.

Gift. The word may be the same or similar in Yiddish.

That's easy. This was all set up through the State Department, with the original groundwork laid last year. Need I say more?

I assume that Israel does in fact have a law requiring that foreign plants be tested. That's reasonable. But the Israelis didn't need to dig up the tree right now, in public. They were sending a message. Just as Obama was sending a message to Israel when he kept Netanyahu cooling his heels for several hours while Obama met with more "important" people. Pay back is Hell.

I infer from this that Netanyahu doesn't think he needs US support to deal with the Iranian nukes. I HOPE that's what it means.

Looks like the Israeli's are a lot smarter about not buying into President Foodstamps bullshit and hype.

Good for them. If only the American public was so wise.

Dear old Ed, so loosely connected to reality yet so verbose.

Obama easily won his personal war with Netanyahu, who after the last election has become the Berlesconi of Israel.

First of all, it's Berlusconi. And, no, he didn't. Likud got more votes than anyone.

Read something credible, that does not count Puffington.

Second, his victory tour is looking more like it's Netanyahu's.

Third, when Netanyahu said Israel can handle Iran alone, he basically told Choom to go redistribute himself.

And fourth, watch out for the crocodiles when swimming in De Nile.

AReasonableMan said...

23% of the vote and the loss of 11 seats looks like Berlusconi territory to me.

I guess that in your age induced mental haze you missed Netanyahu's loss of 11 seats, despite the collapse of Kadima. Looks like Berlusconi to me, maybe a little less classy.

edutcher said...

You mean Barry's loss of 63 House seats in '10 makes him Berlusconi, too?

Dear old Ed,

Please reassure me that you are aware that the current year is 2013. With you in your dotage, and Alzheimer's closing in, you can understand my concern. Perhaps each morning I could provide you with some simple cognitive tests to reassure all of us here on Althouse that your mental function is in fact functioning. Maybe some current affairs, like who won the last federal election. You know, basic stuff.

Sincerely

A very reasonable man

Protocol screw ups have been a signature of the Obama presidency from day 1. (Reset anyone? Remember the gift of Obama speeches to te British Queen and DVDs to the Prime Minister that clearly came from the White House gift shop and didn't work anyway because of region blocking?)

Liberal intellectual laziness hit the big time in 2008. But they're still the smart ones.

(Shhh...let's see if anyone claims my entire point is refuted because of the typo!)

Pest-ridden protocol gifts, not unlike the pest-ridden legislation that this Adminstration pushes.

Apparently the Israelis don't subscribe to "pass it to find out what's in it".

If this president had the slightest idea of how normal people live, he would know you generally cannot carry flora or fauna across borders, with the exception of pets that have the proper papers. You can't even take fruit with you. And here he takes an entire tree and plants it.
