"Officials in the State Department and Clinton circles seem especially sensitive about the arrangement, and no one would speak about it on the record."

Says the New York Times, about Huma Abedin and her work for private clients while serving in the State Department in her longtime role as Hillary Clinton's confidante.
Ms. Abedin reached her new working arrangement in June 2012, when she returned from maternity leave, quietly leaving her position as deputy chief of staff and becoming a special government employee, which is essentially a consultant. A State Department official said that change freed her from the requirement that she disclose her private earnings for the rest of the year on her financial disclosure forms. Still, during that period, she continued to be identified publicly in news reports as Mrs. Clinton’s deputy chief of staff.

Earlier this month, Mr. Weiner released a copy of the couple’s 2012 tax return showing that they had income of more than $490,000.
I was just asking where all their money came from — last month, when the NYT had an article showing off the Weiner/Abedin lifestyle.

From today's NYT article, we hear that the post-maternity leave "arrangement allowed her to work from her home in New York, rather than at the State Department’s headquarters in Washington."
She earned approximately $135,000 from the department during 2012. It is not clear how much Ms. Abedin was paid by Mrs. Clinton privately, or from the Clinton Foundation and Teneo. The Clintons have described Ms. Abedin as a surrogate daughter to them.
ADDED: What work did she do? Did the Clintons just funnel money to her and Weiner?

Democrat politicians/officials seek their positions so they can funnel taxpayer money to chosen confederates.

This is no different.

That's only money and it's peanuts at that level. I wish this was the kind of scandals we had in government today rather than incredibly heroic men left to die, and thousands of people having their basic rights stepped all over just to assure the election of one incredibly small man.

She's teaching Huma the dark arts of power, politics, scandal and appearing to be many things you might not be to retain power.

Sisterhood! Global sisterhood!

Our political class is looking pretty tired these days.

I'm sure all this money has no impact on how they perform their government functions. These are Democrats we're talking about.

To the one who married Bill? Yes, more like commiseration than advice.

Conspirators may think there were things between Hill and Huma, that's why they let their men (covers?) off easy.

.. she also worked for Teneo, a strategic consulting firm, which was founded by Doug Band, a former adviser to President Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton also ‘worked’ for Teneo Bill Clinton: Teneo Capital No Longer Paying Me

Per Wiki Huma Mahmood Abedin (born July 28, 1976[1]) is an American deputy chief of staff and aide to former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.[2] She served as traveling chief of staff and "body woman" for Clinton during Clinton's campaign for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election.[3][4]

Everything is politically interconnected with lots of $$$$ sloshing around.

I love this!

No list of her clients, but she did work for MF Global. There's a confidence builder.

You can bet not one red cent came out of Hillary!'s hide, but the Clinton Foundation? That's just a bunch of rich, dumb, horny over-the-hill broads who think being fucked (in more ways than one) by the former Serial Rapist In Chief is hot.

That was before Democrats.

I bet this information is being leaked by Clinton insiders to derail Weiner's mayorial chances. They don't want him in the public eye while Hilary is running for President - reminds people of bill's misdeeds.

Are you saying Huma's Weiner is bigger than Willie's?

Both Clinton and Weiner met the standards of the communities they served, but Abedin did not dispose of her child in the toilet. That may be viewed as a combative choice in the so-called "War on Women". Perhaps if she didn't exceed the quota then she will be accepted by the left-wing cult. Women are, after all, supposed to remain available for sex and taxation; barefoot and perpetually pregnant.

No, both Clinton and Weiner are perfectly suited to represent their constituency, redistributive change (e.g. graft) and all.

Surrogate? Come to think of it, Huma does have a bit of Webster Hubbel in her brow and jaw line.

From what I've heard, Huma did a bit more, if you know what I mean. (Let's just say, "Huma doesn't like 'Weiner'"). Hint. Hint.

Boy for being so concerned about "the public good" Democrats sure are greedy, aren't they?

John henry said...

I've long been concerned about Huma and have said so here in previous comments.

Not because of whether she and Hils are munching each other, though in an employer/employee relationship that may be illegal. It could certainly be potential grounds for sexual harassment lawsuit.

My concern is more about her being a security risk because of her mother. As Dept Chief of Staff Huma had a pretty high, perhaps tip-top security clearance. Yet her mother lives in Saudi Arabia and this gives the Saudi's potential power over her.

"Hey Huma, we need this information."

"No"

"Your mother just committed blasphemy and insulted the prophet"

"Oh. Here's the info you wanted from the Office of Sec State."

She always seemed to show a lot of money. Buying a $400,000 townhouse, for cash, on a $40,000/yr salary?

High end designer clothes and so on?

Where did all that money come from? We know there is no family money.

Huma had the potential to be an extremely serious security risk and nobody says boo.

I'll bet a donut that someone calls me racist here for pointing this out. You can't question the motives of any Muslim. You just can't.
