Speaking of hurricanes...

... now, some scientists have a theory that global warming mitigates hurricanes.

I 've thought for years that one of George Bush's signal acheivements was to keep the alarmist clowns at bay long enough for the climate to prove them wrong. And when you look at the policy changes these peope argued for, that alone is enough to make him one of our greatest presidents.

May he one day get the credit he deserves.

I need hurricanes. My buddies and I would sacrifice old surfboards in blazing bonfires to Kahunas to spin up giant storms to line up like kicking Rockettes across the Atlantic sending giant long period swell our way so that we could risk our lives in the pursuit of riding waves and attaining the Zen all surfers seek. Then I became a coastal home owner. Not they can stay far out to sea and send smaller swell my way. Bring on the big ol' bad babies. Fall is our surfing season on the east coast.

That should make the East Coast nervous, if one thinks we are a cooling earth instead.

Settled science, 2005: Global Warming will lead to more severe hurricanes.
Settled science, 2013: Global Warming will lead the fewer severe hurricanes.

Is there anything that cannot be explained by AGW?

There are a lot of mights and mays in that article. Don't overlook them in your haste to read something you want to.

Lots of dry air emanating from Africa this year. Could be the latest first hurricane on record in the Atlantic since 1941 if we get to 9/11 (When Gustav in 2002 formed) because of all the dry air.

You can see the dry air here.

Science matters not, the Executive Branch will proceed onward to impose regulations or ignore laws, as they see fit.

Wake up! There is no co2 feedback loop trapping heat. There never was one.

It has been a brilliant hoax based on an untrue assumption....that's why the "settled science" ignorance was the first rule of the game we had to believe.

Charitable dbp would say, "Finally, they have come around to what should be obvious." Cynical dbp would say, "Well, now that hurricane activity is undoubtedly on the decline, they would naturally chalk this up to global warming."

Global climate has been warming for the last two centuries or so.

Is it really bad news that that might actually be good news?

This year was predicted to be an above average year for hurricanes by the National Weather Center, due to AWG.

Instead there have been NO hurricanes of any consequence!

According to Dr Masters at the Weather Underground

The end of August is upon us, and with just one day remaining in the month, the remarkably quiet Atlantic hurricane season of 2013 is highly likely to be just the 6th season since the Hurricane Hunters began flying in 1944 without a hurricane forming by the end of August (the other years: 2002, 2001, 1988, 1984, and 1967.) Although there have been two tropical storms in August (Erin and Fernand), these storms were weak and short-lived, and August 2013 had one of the lowest Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) totals on record for an August in the Atlantic.

Now to be fair, Dr Masters is a big believer in AWG so he's now saying two things in his last few blogs:

a) AWG may cause 'blocking highs' that will protect the U.S. from hurricanes.

b) AWG will cause longer hurricane seasons so that we still can hope for killer hurricanes.

That was the old, original theory. It only got updated to support scare tactics.

I was going to read the article, but right there in the first sentence it mentioned the severity of recent hurricane seasons.

Er, in 2013 we have had 6 named storms and zero hurricanes. As in no hurricanes. None. Nada.

No. There is absolutely nothing that cannot be explained by AGW. Next queston.

@BigMike: Think Globally! The eastern Pacific has been fairly active. The Western Pacific, is (IIRC) having a pretty normal year.
