Caution, man. Caution everywhere.

Is that police tape? Was there a dead body? Or have I been watching too much "CSI"?

The Wisconsin Sarlacc.

Beware Robert Cook Derangement Syndrome - a malady suffered by various Althouse commenters.

Caution, could be dangerous to your sanity.

Goldman Sachs just announced 78 new partners. Based on names, 10 are definitely female. Another 10-12 could be female but the names are inconclusive. Waspy names are not in the majority.

Meritocracy. Perhaps a twisted meritocracy but I have not found a pure one yet. It's still better than not meritocracy.

The yellow tape in the photo isn't there to protect the people. It's to keep the people away from some prized environmental characteristic.

Are surveillance cameras lurking?

Trust. But verify.

Probably put there by our Garage to mark the place a Trek Bicycle executive was drug through the mud. He will come back to erect those little signs and crosses later.

Is the tape there because of glass? I see your dog and wonder if any dogs have been cut by broken glass.

nothing like living in the midwest, 61 degrees on Monday, 23 degrees with a windchill of 6, and largely the same today. gotta love it.

It's the mountain biking trail I've showed you before, the one that was built on land where people have been throwing trash. I'm not sure whether the tape is to keep bikes off places where there is still some glass or whether it's to keep people from missing the track and cutting across.

At garage's link, we see that the intermediate appellate court in Wisconsin has rejected the appeal of Kelly Rindfleisch who pleaded guilty for doing campaign work while at her government job. (This was part of the John Doe investigation by Democratic Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm.) "Despite her guilty plea, Rindfleisch under state law was allowed to appeal her conviction based on the scope of the search warrants used against her. She argued her conviction should be thrown out because the search warrants were so broad as to be unconstitutional."

There was a 3-judge panel with one dissent. "Rindfleisch's attorney, Franklyn Gimbel, praised Fine's dissent and said the split decision could make the state Supreme Court more willing to hear his client's likely appeal. 'It's not a shock or a surprise. It is what it is and we'll move on to the next level,' Gimbel said."

So, on to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

By the way, garage, the "secret routers" are not the issue. She pleaded guilty to the charge. The case is about the search.

Remember when liberals cared about abusive government searches and seizures? Actually, they still do. If you don't care about individual rights whenever party politics get in the way, you're just not a liberal.

If all these people cheering the abuses of John Doe are not liberals, what are they?

Her appeal on that was just rejected. In your opinion, was that ruling erroneous?

I think her point is that you don't care. You don't care if the decision is right or wrong.

Says the guy that links to "Walker Wins Re-election" in response to the Rindfleisch decision. Too funny man. And totally predicable.

Some are Democratic Party partisans, some are lefties. They don't deserve the appellation liberal.

I haven't studied it in the depth I would need to give a legal opinion, but as a citizen, I am offended by what was done and it feels deeply abusive.

Chisholm has prosectuted thousands and thousands of cases. He has gone after both Republicans and Democrats. But this case, THIS case is the only one that bothers Walker partisans. Haha. Okay.

Like I said, you don't care.

BTW, he has spent millions and millions of dollars, and thousands and thousands of man hours, and has almost zero to show for it, and of course all that came early.

Meanwhile this prick is letting violent criminals off easy and bitches that he doesn't have the staff or budget to press prosecution.

They have taken it. You need to find a new appellation for yourself or accept that you're running with some mangy dogs.

Not sure I grock the difference between a liberal and a lefty.

You can't be serious, garage, equating run of the mill criminal prosecutions with politically-motivated ones?

This is a stunning statement, when followed with your example of drug arrests, The only personal characteristic you recognize is a person's political affiliation.

Exactly...the "liverals" from the sixties by and large are the "progressives" now. Let's see a list of those that even question modern progressive ideology. It would be a very short list. It always has taken this path. Once in power they turn to tyranny.

Ha. I wish you could see it from this side, especially when it comes to Walker.

You're saying I'm blinded by political affiliations, yet you accuse Chisholm of being blinded by his political affiliation with no real evidence other than he is a Democrat. So why am *I* the partisan!?

Worse: the just plain goofy sources from which Walker partisans like yourself draw those conclusions from. You know who they are. The dude that drunk dialed Chisholm drunk off his ass and made threats. Or the black helicopter Chair of Jefferson County --who was fired from Trek for incompetence-- and claimed Mary Burke was fired, a few weeks before the election? Like I said I wish you could see that weird pathology from the other side.

I see your side, garage, every time I go home. My mother and sister are rabid Walker haters. The blind, unreasoning hatred is scary to see in a loved one. To the point that they insist on discussing this issue in front of me, even though they know my views. I just shut up and stare into space, but I am very familiar with your viewpoint.

So what is that idiot Gruber up to today? Wonder if Jarrett gave him a good tongue lashing. She is known to do that, apparently.

Original Mike said...

No, it's not. I hate to say this about my family (and I would never say it to them), but their hatred stems from self-interest. You perhaps forget both my wife and I are public employees. Act 10 cost us a bundle of money, but it was the right thing to do for the State of Wisconsin.
