"What is you favorite way to make people laugh?" VladimirPigPutin asked Alec Baldwin.

And he said:
Uh... favorite way to make people laugh... that's a good question. That's interesting. It's different for different kind of people. The people I like to make laugh most are children. So when I can make children laugh, my little daughter laugh, that's priceless. If I pretend I'm a lion, and I'm mauling her, and she just starts laughing, if I do it the right way —  my favorite way of making people laugh is to maul them like a lion, while they're in bed. I come into their bed and maul them like a lion. I should try that on older people to see if they like it. I will try it on my wife. Who knows? She might like it.

Why must you fill my head with such disturbing imagery, especially this early in the morning?

The idea of an old man like Alec Baldwin having a small child is disturbing.

When I am in bed, naked, with naked Scarlett Johannson, I often play the role of 'The Beaver Whisperer.' I 'Beaver Whisper' and she laughs and laughs and laughs.

I am Laslo.

"And another way I love to make my daughter laugh is to call her on the phone and call her a thoughtless pig. Oh she loves that. She laughs and laughs. I've often thought I might try that on some grown-ups. I'm sure they would find it funny too."

When I am in bed, naked, with naked Scarlett Johannson, I, as 'The Beaver Whisperer," say things like "What a GOOD beaver you are, you're a VERY good beaver, we should build a dam together."

Things like that.

I am Laslo.

I know that Lumberjacks don't build dams with their tongue, but part of being a 'Beaver Whisperer' includes saying things that only make sense in 'Happy Special Beaver Land.'

I am Laslo.

Err...

Here's a man that should know better than to mention his daughter and "mauling".

In 'Happy Special Beaver Land' a Lumberjack can build a dam with one sturdy log. But then you knew that.

I am Laslo.

He might as well just have said, "This is how I practice on Nicole."

Or is that too obscure? When I went to check the wording, I couldn't find the quote via Google. It made a big impression on me at the time of OJ's trial, but apparently not on the internet.

I'd say that Baldwin (probably) actually has a decent sense of humor, but his shitty temperament makes his politics shitty. I ran into him and his young daughter in East Hampton at a coffee shop while I was with my young son and we said hello, seemed like a nice enough guy.

If he were a nicer guy he'd probably be a Republican, honestly.

In 'Happy Special Beaver Land' sometimes a Coal Miner stops by before heading off to "Coal Miner Land."

Sometimes Scarlett prefers a Coal Miner.

That is a metaphor.

I am Laslo.

It's no more disturbing than the existence of grandfathers.

Say the unexpected. Say the things that are "over the line" when uncalled for. I got huge laughter for saying that Hillery's going to drop out of the presidential race, claiming that she's got a cankle infection. That's become a buzz line at my job. At least my current job.

I love Alec Baldwin... based on his podcast "Here's the Thing." I love listening to him talk. He's intelligent and emotional. Just ignore the political opinions, which are not his main thing. His main thing is acting, and he's actually quite brilliant as an actor and very thoughtful about the history and the craft of acting.

That phone message to his daughter whose mother is Kim Basinger happened quite a while back. He's remarried and the daughter he lion-mauls is a toddler.

That just tickles me.

I think this is missing an "animals are assholes" tag.

I guess choosing to pretend to be a lion is a sign of a healthy ego, over choosing to pretend to be an aardvark, which has always been my own personal go-to critter for playing with little kids.

NB: One can avoid all appearances of creepy impropriety with small children by playing "The Dumpling Game."

It requires only a blanket, a sofa or other suitable crash pad, and enough room on the floor to roll up the dumpling.

A strong back helps a lot.

News you can use. No charge.

Don't look beyond the curtain Dorothy. The play's the thing.

Now be quick and report to Mr. Polanski's office for your closeup.

Male lions are selective as to which offspring survive, so perhaps the animal totem is apt.

Thanks for the hot child molestation tip, Alec.

I agree with Althouse. I like Sean Penn's films as well.

seems major league creepy. Am I the only one?

I like his movies/shows also - that scene in 30 Rock where he acts out a fictional dinner table scene between Tracy Jordan's father, mother, and Tracy himself is genius. He should win an Emmy just for that scene.

I consider "disturbing" to be part of my job as grandfather. Push the little nippers out of their complacency. The older they get, the more I want to disturb them.

Alec Baldwin and Sean Penn. Two political assholes.
Why do thet have to be in interesting movies and cause me such confliction..

jr565 said...

I always crack up when I see Alec lose his temper and get booted off of airplanes or TV shows. Funny stuff

jr565 said...

In fairness to Alec he's a good actor, hilarious and probably very smart. He just has terrible politics and a tendency to have his temper force his foot in his mouth.

He was great as Mr. Conductor on Thomas the Tank Engine. So was George Carlin. People are not always what they seem.

I hate that MetLife selected Alec Baldwin to be the radio host for the New York Philharmonic broadcasts. His labored diction and halting delivery would have disqualified him were he not a celebrity. His personal embarrassments and obnoxious politics would have disqualified him were he not a progressive democrat. The guy is garbage but gets a pass because of the Golden Ticket of celebrity + democrat party politics. I hate that.
