The tipping point?

Cher may be switching from Hillary to Bernie.
On Tuesday night, Cher continued her criticism of the Sanders campaign, calling Sanders' campaign manager Jeff Weaver "scum" and an "asshole." She tweeted, "His 'Hillary is responsible for ISIS' is pure Trump."

However, on Wednesday, Cher said that after blocking people on Twitter she started to "feel uneasy" and went into "marathon research mode" with an open mind. She said that "in the quiet of the night," she discovered that Sanders' beliefs "mirrored" her own more than she had realized. The singer said she was "shaken to [her] core" by this revelation.
The dark night of the Cher-soul....

"marathon research mode" leading to Sanders: says a lot about her.

Among Progs, blaming Hillary for ISIS is kosher, criticizing her email and server fiasco a bridge too far. Because priorities.

You're on a roll today Althouse. "The dark night of the Chef soul," lol.

"The dark night of the Cher-soul."

So, this post could have been titled "Inky's Escape?"

Another Hollywood super delegate. When we give a shit about what celebrities have to say we get candidates who act like celebrities and now we have an actual celebrity running.

Spiros Pappas said...

No wealthy liberal believes in the sort of income and wealthy redistribution that Mr. Sanders advocates. Hollywood believes in open borders, affirmative action, gay marriage, etc., but not in progressive taxation, social security and universal healthcare. This hypocrisy is why the country needs Trump!

Cher is not particularly bright when it comes to politics, is she? Not that there would be any question about that from her prior comments, but, good grief, I knew she was politically closer to Bernie than Clinton. I mean there is being in the bubble and there is being in THE BUBBLE.

OMG!! STOP THE PRESSES, Cher is deciding!

Seriously, Professor? When are you going to update us on Barbra, Susan and Jane?

Oi.

"Seriously, Professor? When are you going to update us on Barbra, Susan and Jane?"

I don't know but Bono is a genius.

Jane Fonda? Well, I did notice her ex-husband, Tom Hayden, has changed his mind about Sanders and is now a Hillary bro.

Char Char Binks, Esq. said...

At least she didn't call Sanders a "gypsy", a "tramp", or a "thief". Maybe she learned her lesson after calling Obama a "half-breed".

Clyde said...

"Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" would definitely be a Hillary anthem.

Virgil Hilts said...

I prefer the metaphor - are the worms starting to turn?

Clyde said...

And the article has a whole list of Hollywood useful idiots supporting either Hillary or Bernie, but that pretty much applies to anyone who thinks that a Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders presidency would be anything less than an Obama-level disaster.

If Bernie Sanders is the answer it must have been a really stupid question.

How are you and Bono going to keep those comics alive?

@Birches "The dark night of the Chef soul," a South Park episode, no?

Has Cher figured out that the Earth revolves around the Sun yet ?

She didn't a few years ago.

Wouldn't it be something if people did their research BEFORE they spouted off?

Althouse might be on to something. When you lose Cher .....

Both Clinton and Sanders are members of the pro-choice cult. The only difference is that Sanders denies intrinsic value and individual dignity. That's a double bigot.

You really are something else.

It's not his beating her in the national polls. It's not his winning 8 out of the last nine states. It's not a senator endorsing him. Or meeting with the pope.

It's Cher.

What century do you live in?

Which lounge bar?

Oh for the days when Chaz' doings were big news.
But hey..Cher's been outside any normal economy for so long, I wonder what took her so long to feel the bern.

The dark night of my soul will come in November when enough people who claim intelligence, vote reflexively and elect Hillary. I drive head first at great speed towards these people trusting they will stay in their own lane. Crazy that is.

Bono's strategy of mocking, just like Gandhi or MLK's strategy of nonviolent resistance, works on civilized people but not on the Nazis or ISIS. Mockery may have worked against the Nazis and the Red Front of employed early enough in the 1920s, but it was too late by the early 1930s. Charlie Hebdo didn't work. Maybe you need 4 billion people to do it for a sustained period of time to get rid of ISIS or radical Islam.

Wince said...

I got you, Bern.

SteveR said...

Mockery is a great idea as far as an alternative that avoids reality. It comes closer to being effective than the Obama "plan" but one way or another, a lot of people are going to die, and the real mockery will be the history books written in Arabic and Farsi about this legacy.

mccullough said...

How do you mock ISIS without mocking Islam?

Tommy Duncan said...

Cher did do the definitive version of the Shoop Shoop Song. And there's Chastity/Chaz. Cher's endorsement of Bernie Sanders has great meaning to a select group of socialist transgender do-wop fans who like covers of Betty Everett originals.

As for me, I like beer.

Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much
And vodka puts my mouth in gear
This little refrain should help me explain
As a matter of fact I like beer

What a crock. She just wants to be popular and like any narcissist can and will follow the trends that help her achieve her goal.

Re: Bono.

Even geniuses make mistakes.

While it's true that mockery and shaming are excellent and time-tested tools of social control and correction, they only works if (and this is crucial . . . ) there is no reliable prohibition of killing the mockers and shamers.

The effectiveness breaks down fairly quickly in that event.

Is there an American, other than Prof. Althouse and presumably Cher herself, who cares what Cher thinks?

mezzrow said...

She should do "In the Still Of The Night" in the style of Wayne Newton, then bravely explain how she discarded the Hillary's promise of a feminist future for pop icons to follow Sanders into the land of Victory Gin and the panopticon.

Can she give me five minutes so I can run a bag of popcorn through the nuke first?

Suspending reality, I wouldn't mind a younger and living Sonny Bono as a GOP POTUS candidate this year.

Comanche Voter said...

Pretty soon she and Bernie will be doing a duet on "I Got You Babe". Wonder how Bernie will look in a raccoon fur vest?

MikeD said...

I'm sorry, Cher because? Sonny went on to be an actual, voting politician as did his, non-show biz second/better wife. I've been breathlessly awaiting a Cher/Streisand PAC to disparage on TWITCHY. Oh, wait! In addition to facelessbook I don't do the twitter of the uninformed/misinformed/so what!

Re Bono's suggestion to send comedians to fight ISIS -- didn't Chaplin and other entertainers and artists mock Hitler?

Laura said...

Perhaps Bono has revealed the true advantage of not being labeled plus-size, especially when dodging bullets or knives while providing that much needed mockery. How Swiftian are his choices, considering the redneck fare he could have offered up?

Cher is yet another in the long line of rich people who praise socialism. She is worth upwards of 300 million dollars. You'd think she might have done something with that money to uplift poor people, rather than getting botox for her face.
But for capitalism she would not get to live like royalty, nor give millions to help uplift poor people, if thats what she thought she should do with her money.

jacksonjay said...

Yeah, if only President SmartAss had continued the "ISIL is JV" strategy, they would be completely destroyed by now.

Let's us get back to mocking Vlad the Putin's machismo, because that has been so very effective. You did see the Russian fighter buzzing the US naval ship, right?

Geez! Brainiacs! Genius!

Cher? First I've heard her name in a darn long time. Good work, Cher's publicist.
