Beautiful Lake Mendota...

P1150418

... on today's walk. The temperature was 62°. Summer in Madison. Perfect! And I mean even before I got to The Terrace and the Union Utopia ice cream.

62? We were 30 degrees above that, and no, it's not a dry heat.

We don't get blue skies in the summer due to the humidity. I have to use my polarizer filter, and then maybe.

Shhhh. Don't let out how awesome Wisconsin summers are. People will move here.

We had thunderstorms and then bright sunlight which turned into soft golden yellow light all around. Simply magic.

106 in California's capital!

I really wish I was in Madison. That is ideal weather.

We'll talk again about things in February.

that is beautiful!

Pretty much perfect weather now. A little too cool this morning.

Time to bike home, snacking all the way on blackcaps.

I wouldn't call 62 perfect for summer. You need at least 70 to reliably be able to leave home without a jacket.

Oh, now now. In bright sun, you'll feel fine in just a long sleeved shirt.

Oh, and when Wisconsonites are telling everyone how "perfect" their summers are, I notice they leave out the part about the giant mosquitoes and the super-annoying Mayflies.

Mayflies? Not in Madison.

Not so "perfect" in Phoenix. But it is sunny.

62 is perfect. Beautiful day. I didn't even have to hide in the shade.

I'm in the Milwaukee suburbs...have seen a mosquito all summer. And mayflies? Maybe along the Mississippi or up north...meh.

I guess these guys didn't read Asifa Quraishi-Landes "Five myths about sharia." in The Washington Post.

Xenophobia helps perhaps in describing the mosquito-infested humid sweatlands of Madison in late June as perfect.

Madison in my memory was perfect when Sarah Palin spoke there.

90 and humid in Orange County, CA. Good weather for hurricanes. The few times they get up this far, it is hot and humid and the ocean temp gets up. Usually the water is fairly cold from the Alaska current but when it gets warm, look out.

Eutrophication. I can still smell it. Your photo is like oogling an obese person. I'd rather see a less well-nourished lake up North.

62 is too cold to eat ice cream.

It's never too cold to eat ice creamm

Temperature and relative humidity are closely bound. 105 is really not bad when the humidity is only 15%. 85 is awful when the humidity is 85%.

We age and tend to get cold. We want warmth as we grow older. That's probably partly physical and partly emotional. If you're fine at 62 when older than 62, then you're doing great!

Enjoy it while you can. You'll never have good weather if Trump wins!

You know what will destroy that beautiful cool day, that beautiful lake? Donald Trump would, with his huge blasts of hot gasses from his big mouth, from his big fat ass, heating up the air, sucking up all the oxygen. And he'd take his tiny dirty fingers and swish them around in the lake, dirtying it all up, fouling those pretty green weeds...

...sorry, I was channeling Chuck there for a minute. It'll pass...

...and damn, Campy beat me to it.

Of course, when they get their first look at Wisconsin winters, they'll move away. Or they could get away for the winter, but that would involve ..... travelling .....

Paco Wové, that's part of the 2016 election. We can't stand the sight of any of the candidates. There's no Barack Obama or Mitt Romney, good-looking guys who could sell. We have only Trump and Hillary, and those are ugly people with ugly voices and ugly attitudes.

If only Beyonce would run. But she's only 34.

On a cool day such as yesterday (or this morning), mosquitoes are no problem. They were pretty swarm-y three nights ago when it was warm and humid though. Or course, if you're in the middle of a lake, they won't bother you.

I spent most of the day chasing Striped Bass on Chesapeake Bay. It was hazy, warm and sticky, although we had enough breeze to cut it a little. We covered 100 miles on the water and caught 39 fish between three people.

That's one of the great things about winter . It eliminates lots of undesirable things.
