"Of all the heinous style trends of 2016, the rise of Barbie Crotch is the most disturbing..."

"... mainly because, unlike 'forced whimsy' and black sheers, BC isn’t even close to being played out yet. It’s probably too early to call these things, but we predict that 2017 is going to be very crotchy. Brace yourselves."

From Tom & Lorenzo's "The Twenty Worst Red Carpet Looks of 2016: Part 3."

Men who aren't style savvy have a different term for Barbie Crotch.

Bless you, Tom and Lorenzo.

Some of the women featured in that list are, physically speaking, gorgeous. How did they find someone to dress them who made them look so hideous? That must take some work.

I would think Tom and Lorenzo would be more concerned with Ken crotch.

Whatever happened to tasteful display of copious amounts of cleavage? That never goes out of style. Just look at medieval outfits; those girls wore about 40 yards of fabric.... but had more cleavage than most girls today.

Showing off the boobs never goes out of style, apparently.

Of course, most designers nowadays are gay men, who cannot appreciate a good look down a girls outfit. Even if the girl wants you to look down her outfit.

The James Franco comment in Part 1 of that list is all I needed to make my day.

My thought, too. I wouldn't expect Tom & Lorenzo to be the ultimate authorities in this area.

I'm trying to guess what barbie crotch might be.

There's thigh gap and camel toe. This must be a third alternative, assuming there's no anatomically correct barbie.

There are only so many body parts that can be covered or uncovered. I'm just glad to be alive in an era where the options for doing so are unlimited, in any combinations.

Ann, I may never forgive you for linking to that post. My eyes may never recover from the hideousness of the pictures there.

I suppose all these designers refused to dress Melania Trump, not that she ever asked them to.

Nonapod said...

Actually the Jared Leto outfit made me laugh out loud. He looks like the court magician for McDonaldland.

Thankfully none of these (so called) designers are going to demean themselves and provide clothing for Melania Trump. No loss for the American public or for Melania.

Finally our First Lady will dress actually LIKE a lady.

"all these designers refused to dress Melania Trump"

Thank God.

I find it weird that fashion designers think First Ladies need someone to advise them what to wear.

This will play out like the Ann Althouse/media stance redux. Today they're all giving themselves credit for their political stance against 'normalizing' Trump by dressing her or discussing her fashions. Next month they won't be able to help themselves to write something catty about the dress she bought at Barney's or the designer that chooses to send her a dress. Six months from now they won't be able to stop talking about her or her fashion choices.

It is quite amusing to see what happens to folks who have a LOT of money and a LOT of time on their hands.

They often migrates towards the .........

I'm not yet in that position. I'd read a shitload of books, write stuff, and walk the dog a lot. I doubt I would dress goofy and pose for pictures, though.

Not since he declared himself a war criminal, for killing women and children in Vietnam, before a Congressional committee.

Who'd he kill this time?

What a hoot. Especially liked Madonna's outfit. Picture perfect for the post-50 woman.

Christy said...

Yeah, Allen, I heard Kerry. The commentary running in my head was all unrelated expletives.

I think it's the revenge of the homosexual clothes designers.

You can only blame yourself, same as the rest of us. The link said Red Carpet looks, so you knew it would be bad. Very bad. And if there is ever a chance of seeing Madonna, pass.

I'd ask what the Barbie Crotch is, but I don't want to know.

I googled Barbie crotch. If you feel the need to wear one for ( I assume) modesty, maybe you shouldn't be wearing transparent designs over your hooch in the first place. Or since these areas are now considered inappropriate if not bald, you could grow your pubes out and walk around naked and fully dressed at the same time.

As I understand it the opposite of "Barbie crotch" is "camel toe." And I do not find that attractive.

Barbie crotch is, as one pointed out, the opposite of camel toe. It is done with something called Smooth Groove, which is sort of like a codpiece for women.

Criticism of this is sort of like the fascination with thigh gap, in that they both embody a feeling that there should be some sort of effortless perfection (in the case of BC, that a woman should be able to display her pubic bump (yeah, I know there's a term for it, but I don't have time to look it up) with getting material bunched up in her vulva).

Personally, I don't go in for tight clothes and say a pox on both their houses ...
