The Copenhagen deal "locks countries into a cycle of poverty for ever. Obama has eliminated any difference between him and Bush."

"[It] will definitely result in massive devastation in Africa and small island states. It has the lowest level of ambition you can imagine. It's nothing short of climate change scepticism in action."

Lumumba Di-Aping, chief negotiator for the G77 group of 130 developing countries.

For some reason Madison Man hasn't come around to defend the CRU climate models. I wonder why?

Hm. Yet another testable prediction.

but it was an UNPRECEDENTED deal....according to Obama anyway.

Palin warned him. But his duty to world governance is apparently settled. Unfortunately for Americans who are used to 225 years of freedom and self governance, there is no Bill of Rights in the UN Constitution's Authority that Obama lusts to enmesh us into by a treaty bowing down to a Church of Nonsense Warming Doctrines taught by men clever in the art of decieving. The Chinese were astounded at a President that WANTS to surrender the sovreignty of his country like Obama does over a grade B science fiction plot.

You realize this means that Cuba will soon be covered by ocean, and the rest of the Gitmo prisoners will have to be moved to Illinois even sooner than planned.

(Never mind that the highest point in Cuba is 6,800 feet and in Illinois, 1,230 feet.)

If this statement is true, then we've finally found something I can like about this guy.

.. it was left to Barack Obama and Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier, to broker a political agreement. The so-called Copenhagen accord "recognises" the scientific case for keeping temperature rises to no more than 2C..

It sounds like a fight btwng who going to control the thermostat. Don't they know Somebody always sneaks up in the middle of the night and raises it?

China has 1.3 billion people. India has 1.1 billion. All of Africa has 967 million. If Di-Aping really wants to talk about a "cycle of poverty" this is the context he has to address.

There was a story on the old "Outer Limits" series ('63 or thereabouts) where a Red Chinese agent was infiltrated into the US and posed as the President by using a shape-shifting technology. Ol' Purple Lips seems to have vindicated the plot.

For my part, I'm not quite ready to cheer when doing so indirectly encourages some of the world's worst regimes & their thug spokesmen.

(And in the name of what?)

There simply has to be another way.

This is sickening.

Deletions & reposting solely due to issues of typos, not of content. I'd have zero problem in proving.

Ever notice how I care more about precision when the larger issues are just so damn more important?

The photo on Drudge is full of gorgeous powdery goodness (via the Beeb).

Hope all of you "up there" are well insulated and don't have much planned outside, this weekend!

Ann, perhaps this is a bit off-topic, but here is a landmark analysis by Terence Corcoran of the Climategate e-mails. It's Part 1 of 2.

I think all of your many readers will benefit from reading it in full.

This just pisses me off. Is it any wonder Americans are experiencing foreign aid fatigue?

I'm a little tired of being told how morally reprehensible we Americans are by the genocidal despots of the world and their enablers at the UN and teat sucking NGOs.

Bush ratcheted up the treatment of AIDS to $15 billion in 2003 and Congress allocated $48 billion more last year and it's making a difference to millions in Africa.

btw-The Guardian is owned and operated by the Scott Trust. The Charitable Fund has an annual budget of £100,000 to support projects associated with independent journalism, journalist ethics, media literacy and journalist training, both in the UK and abroad.

How swell of them.

How many starving kiddies, AIDS patients, wells, hospitals, clinics, and schools does the Scott Trust fund? Apparently none.

However they did build themselves spiffy new building in Kings Cross.

The Guardian can kiss my Yankee ass.

Wankers.

In fairness to the Grauniad, they seem to be taking ClimateGate very seriously. Sure, they are leftier than David Axelrod's left nut, but they are showing surprising journalistic integrity of late about this topic.

Maybe they just want to shut up Prince Charles.

Perhaps in a fit of honesty in the aftermath of Copenhagen, what the advocates quoted in this article make clear is that it's all about the Benjamins... "for the children," of course.

The lies that democrats tell are astounding. It's gotten so that even when they take a shit, they believe their own crap.

John Stodder said...

Obama by now knows all about climategate. It's unavoidable and only open to a narrow array of interpretations. The calculus is how to get the US out of these now-pointless commitments, without further angering the domestic and international left. Bad enough that he's escalating in Afghanistan and gave up on the public option. To admit he's a "denier?" Way too soon. But eventually thru a fan dance of fig leaves, the issue will be dropped unless some new and unassailable evidence emerges. .

Tell Di-Aping that carbon-sequestering reforestation would work better if Africans did not use newly planted trees for firewood.

KANO, 8 April 2008 (IRIN) - Of the 50 million seedlings planted every year in the 11 northern Nigeria states worst effected by desertification, 37.5 million wither and die within two months, environmental officials say.

"The 12.5 million seedlings that make it to maturity are not enough to create a deforestation-reforestation equilibrium, especially given the fact that a large number of the trees that grow are later chopped down," Kabiru Yammama of the National Forest Conservation Council of Nigeria [NFCCN] told IRIN.

"You people in the industrialized nations are gonna have to pony up WAY more money."

Third world nations have figured out that the first world has binged itself into insolvency, and see Copenhagen as their last chance to guilt the West out of some billions.

Yeah, it's not like they could have true rule of law and capitalism, and make their own prosperity -- that would be unfair or something...

The Copenhagen conference reminds me of old farts driving, who when they see they are about to crash into something, hit the gas instead of the brake. Luckily, enough of us are screaming "stop" from the back seat. They still can't figure out where the brake is, but at least they seem to be taking their foot of the gas.

bagoh20 said...

"...reforestation would work better if Africans did not use newly planted trees for firewood."

Why don't they just use the money for firewood - it would eliminate all that dirty planting and cutting part?

The final paragraph of the linked article would be more believable if the speaker was referring to the outlawing of DDT:

Lydia Baker of Save the Children said world leaders had "effectively signed a death warrant for many of the world's poorest children. Up to 250,000 children from poor communities could die before the next major meeting in Mexico at the end of next year."
