Drinking two pints of beer instead of each meal works too...for a time.

The Blonde is a big fan of this (the water thing, not the beer). It does a great job of cleaning out the system and, yes, helps fill the void.

Long known truth is that you eat when you are really thirsty. The article devolves into mishmash when it advise not drinking sodas with sugar or high fructose corn syrup, and then adds that a 12 oz soda contains 10 teaspoons of sugar, as the reason. No, no, a soda has no sugar in it, but it only has High Fructose Corn Syrup in it. That is what the big problem with sodas is.

Even better idea: swallow air instead of eating food. Zero calories, and it will make your stomach full.

Today I chose Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout to accompany my dinner (aka supper). Two pints of this 18 proof brew would probably leave an impression.

Water makes me puffy and bloated, plus I tend to make motorboat noises after 3 or 4 gulps because that is my way, and others find it annoying; moreover some water tastes funny like metal or gum and people even put things in your water when you leave it at your desk so no thank you ma'am..

Why not just close the loop?

Healing - The miracles of urine therapy.

"Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well." -The Book of Proverbs 5:15

Dr C.P. Mittal in his book, Miracles of Urine Therapy, speaks about certain doctors in India who believe in AUT but are aware that their patients would not drink it. So when the patient comes for a visit, the doctor would ask for a urine sample. He would take it into the back room, where it is repackaged as medicine, with taste and smell disguised.

It would funny if it turned out that genetically fat people had a mutant enzyme system that lysed the oxygen-hydrogen bond in water and used the liberated energy to store fat.

Dude that would be a gas. The resultant energy would probably be expelled physically.

frrrrrrrrpht.

And it is possible to drink too much water, a situation that can lead to a rare, but serious, condition known as water intoxication, Davy pointed out.

Water is the gateway drug! Where are the government restrictions?

"People should drink more water and less sugary, high-calorie drinks. It's a simple way to facilitate weight management."

Well of course. This is news?

"Davy said water may be so effective simply because it fills up the stomach with a substance that has zero calories. People feel fuller as a result, and eat less calorie-containing food during the meal. Increased water consumption may also help people lose weight if they drink it in place of sweetened calorie-containing beverages, said Davy, who is with Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.

The thirst signal is often slow to reach the brain, and we sometimes mistake it for hunger.

Good article on a new strategy.

But I'll just once again reiterate my belief that it is the carbohydrate not fat this is mostly to be avoided or reduced.

I will have to try this.

I drank a gallon of water a day for months and didn't lose a pound. Granted, I wasn't trying.

I switched to a vegetarian diet for a month, on the other hand, and lost 20 pounds. Again, not trying.

Meanwhile--

traditionalguy--

Pepsi Throwback, Mexican Coca-Cola, and Dr. Pepper from the Dublin plant in Texas--these all use genuine sugar. Tastes way better.

Donna B--

Actually, no, high fructose corn syrup isn't sugar. It's the Devil's Semen.
