Entertainment at Miller Park.

I'm posting this 55-second clip because I got a request for more baseball posts. This video, shot by me, shows the end of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and that other song they do after that at Miller Park...

... and the introduction of the Chorizo,

Polka songs! Now I'm going to have "Roll Out The Barrel" in my head all afternoon.

That "other song" is the Beer Barrel Polka, a fave of the Limeys in pre-D Day London. (as the head of the history department in my old high school remembered, "They loved that damned song").

As to the Chorizo, I though you only saw tokens in network cop shows.

Last time I was at Miller Park with Curious Jr. at the end of "Roll out the barrel" he yelled "Once more en espanol".

Cracked everyone up.

That other song is a popular song to which Wisconsinites dance the official state dance.

I love baseball.

Every other sport is on strike now.

What will happen to all of the Bookmaker jobs unless baseball saves the day.

The Braves will have the starting pitcher/catcher battery in the Allstar Game on Tuesday.

That is rare.

Before the Allstar game, the Braves play Philadelphia 3 games. We go in 2.5 games behind them.

And the Braves won/loss ratio is a sliver ahead of the Yankees and a sliver but behind the Red Socks.

I like Miller Park. Kind of interesting though....its a domed stadium with a sun roof.

The next stadium should be a true open air stadium, and put it on the lakfront. we have 40 years to work on that.

You saw a good game..in good seats.
I was @ one of the first games the racing sausages appeared. It was @ County Stadium and one of the NY teams were in town..probably the Mets because the crowd was sparse. A NY tabloid photographer was walking around taking shots and plopped himself near me. The racing sausages were introduced[this was pre-Chorizo]. He let out a howling laugh and could hardly keep his camera steady as he shot the race. He said, "I know this will get printed."

traditionguy, I like the Braves..I really liked Bobby Cox. But come on, you know they'll fold like a $2 lawnchair in postseason

Well Brewers do spring training in AZ. It will be interesting to see if Mr. Chorizo dares come to our racist state.

Chorizo.

Mexican sausage.

Chorizo and egg breakfast burrito, a staple in the SouthWest.

Found a place in MexicanTown in Detroit that sells it bulk-

Now, if I can just find some mountains, palm trees, and In & Out Burger....

Its starts with Chorizo and soon it won't be "Roll Out the Barrel" it will be
Viva Seguin

Actually it would have had to been the Yankees. The Brewers were in the American League until 1998, and the sausage races started well before that...like 92 or something.

ndspinelli...The Braves are indeed a $2 chair these days

Turner would spend 140 million on payroll, but the current owners spend 80 million. And their occaisonal purchases come from the middle level skill pool.

But we have 3 youngsters up from the farm teams that together make 10% of one veteran's salary, and they are hitting and winning games. They are ages 21, 21, and 23.

Maybe they will fold in the playoffs, but maybe not.

@traditionalguy- The Phillies will prevail! Also, look at the number of appearances by O'Flaherety, Venters, Kimbrel. Then realize that the entire philly bullpen is on the DL. Madson will be very rested for the stretch. Lidge is rehabbing. Bastardo has numbers better than anyone and hasn't thrown much. Contreras will be back, etc. The Braves will be in the Playoffs, but will be wild card and face SF again.

Baseball is by far the best sport. No advantage to size, no clock, multiple skills. I am glad Meade is getting Ann to baseball games. It enriches your life and makes you a more complete person.

Now I'm jealous. I'm heading to Milwaukee for a wedding, but there is no baseball in town this week. At least I hope to get to Lakefront Brewery and Bernie Brewer's Chalet.

Curious, You're probably right about it being the Yanks. However, it was in the new stadium that the Pirates brought the Racing Pierogi's and they had a grudge match w/ the sausages. This schmaltz causes me to never admit I'm from Wi. If I'm @ a blackjack or craps table in Vegas and I get the stale, "Where you from?" I say one of the many different states/cities I've lived...never Wi. My bride is born and raised and Cheesehead to the core..that's why she has to eat prunes.

You didn't show the race?!?

I watched that whole video and no sausage race. I feel kind of cheated.

If you knew how chorizos are made you wont sleep again.
Its spaniard not mexican.
A pork intestine is "cleaned" and then filled with pork and species.
Chorizo in Venezuela and Colombia is a thief or a corrupt politician.
Choros: thieves.
Since chorizo has pepperonni and peperonni is used in "guisos",sauces. And guiso is also a corrupt deal a chorizo is a corrupt politician

The gross intestine is also used

Elliott A...But all those sick call Phillies will need time to heal, do some rehab in the minors, and check on their investment.

But our 21, 21, and 23 years old rookies heal overnight. And so far they remember how to find the stadium.

I'll check back with you 3 days from now.

Nice to see Milwaukee has it going pretty good on baseball. More baseball video. Ann should like the weirdo Greinke.

What's the view of Greinke in Milwaukee? We are a little bitter her, but think we got much better of the trade. You guys are somehow playing Yuni as SS every day, which is probably enough to doom your pennant hopes.

Kansas City said...

I read Ann's other post on the game. Maybe we don't need more baseball posts from Ann (except maybe an analysis of Greinke).

ndspinelli said...

KC, You got a great defensive shortstop in Escobar. He and Betancourt are about equal w/ the bat, but Alcides can fly and is much better w/ the glove.

Greinke has shown flashes of brilliance. Finally, Althouse doesn't know shit about sports, but @ least she doesn't pretend to. Sounds like she went to the game as appeasement for her groom, she makes him go to 50 events he doesn't care about..she goes to a ballgame.

ndspinelli said...

Trooper, hopefully Nadler isn't one of those Congressmen..those rolls of fat will obscure his prick unless he's got a Dirk Diggler.

Kansas City said...

ndspinelli,

Escobar is amazing as a fielder. He might become a better hitter. Yuni is bad. Hard to figure why the Brewers think they can win with him at short. The Royals presumably made the Brewers take him, and now he plays every day. The other three guys the Royals got for Greinke are also promising, especially Cain and the young starting pitcher.

I actually thought Ann's first post on the ball game was a charmingly naive intellectual view of for whom she should root. But probably one post from Ann every 20 to 30 years on baseball is enought. I did not even think Morgan's catch was that great.
