Janet Napolitano speaks in Madison today.

She's going to talk — and answer questions — about "innovative ways to encourage the 'best and brightest' international students and scholars to study and remain in the U.S."

2–3 p.m. in Varsity Hall at Union South, on campus. The UW website says: "All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend."

Maybe someone will recommend to her not frisking US business travellers. Assuming everybody is dangerous until proven otherwise does not encourage even the best and brightest. And that's just a start.

We need to make sure they can get here through Mexico.

Because JFK can be such a mess during high travel season.

What possible insight would Janet Napolitano have on this subject? You might as well get Carol Herman to speak on it. At least Carol in her raving madness might be entertaining.

Fred beat me to it. If Big Sis has enough time on her calendar to vomit out this kind of corporate blah-blah, the GOP should immediately introduce legislation to wipe out her entire department.

And to forstall our trolls - I'd say the same thing if it was Tom Ridge indulging in this useless, feel-good jackholery.

Whoops, I almost forgot:

SCOTT WALKER'S GOING DOWN, ALTHOUSE! WHY DO YOU KEEP IGNORING YOUR BOYFRIEND'S TROUBLES?!?!?!

Is this part of her official job? And why does she strike me as a really dim bulb?

So now she thinks we need the best and brightest. Talk about pulling up the ladder behind you.

Downtown Alcohol Policy Coordinator Mark Woulf will be answering follow-up questions.

Ohhh, no one would have the guts to ask her about Gunwalker.

"Because," Big Sis muttered, not knowing the mic was still hot, "God knows our schools can't produce them domestically anymore..."

The world is coming to scope out Madison.

They might like the Wisconsin area with its many lakes and mild European like summer temps.

Users bearing gifts of World Money Units will need to be attracted to settle in the former USA's part of North America after it has been broken up into smaller governable Duchys.

Sounds like a great day for a conlaw class field trip.

And, yes, somebody ask her why TSA needs to get involved with busses and trains.

I mean, how do you fly a MetroLiner into a skyscraper?

Carol would make a lot more sense.

Fred4Pres, Carol "Ditzy" Herman will be doing the pat downs of attendees for Big Sis.

We all realize that Carol "Ditzy" Herman is of very limited intellect. But, being a spooky, depressed, cat lady, she craves attention. So..like a 4 year old who can't differentiate between positive and negative attention, and since the latter is all The Ditz is capable of, we get her drivel. When people back off her is when she steps it up. She gets the very little positive attention she requires by sucking up to the Althouse. It's all incredibly dysfuntional. This is, I know, not a new insight, I've read it previously, but that was before I truly saw this sad pathology.

Do Carol "Ditzy" Herman a solid..send her your unused Depends coupons.

How about the "innovation" that the government get the Hell out of the way so that the best and brightest can get jobs that would encourage them to stay in the United States instead of returning to growing innovative countries like India, China, Brazil etc.

Start there.

Carol-Herman is like the old Ed Sullivan Show. She is a comedy act, followed by a juggler, followed by a popular singer, followed by a comedy act. Then she slips in some wisdom of the ages.

What's not to like?

All I know is I laughed at Trooper's reaction to Herman's "Rickey Branch" comment. I know baseball is sacred, but is it wrong to laugh?

So, "all faculty, staff and students are invited to attend." Is the hall large enough to hold every single faculty member, staff person and student? If not, I guess they don't really want all the people that make up "all faculty, staff and students" to come. Shouldn't we speak out against a university being so disengenuous? I mean, they're essentially saying, "Ya'll come, but we don't have room for all ya'll, so all ya'll don't come. Just some of ya'll."

Secretary Napolitano,

Your department crafted a memo that outlined U.S. veterans as potential terrorists. Is your department still targeting veterans as potential terrorists?

Signed

Trooper needs a straight man for his humor like George Burns needed Gracie Allen.

Say good night Carol.

Yeah, it's tough to work a room on the interwebz without straight lines.

Well, maybe we could send the criminals in those countries a whole bunch of automatic weapons, making them much more dangerous and thereby encouraging US residence.

Wait...DOJ tested that already? Damn.

She is going to speak on how keeping illegal immigrants who go to college is the right thing to do.

Oh man am I feeling the cognitive dissonance here.

For 12 years my job has been to work with international students and scholars. The more of them, the more I am needed. The less international students and scholars, the less need for what I do.

Argh.

Is Janet Napolitano the biggest twit to ever hold a Cabinet-level post?

I can't think of anyone who's outdone her,

GunWalker doesn't involve any automatic weapons, that is, guns that fire more than one time when the trigger is pulled/held-down.
