"We will burst open multicolored sparks... and rays prismatic.... and rays prismatic..."

The Big Game Day meets the Marijuana Harvest Festival... today, in Madison, Wisconsin. The crowd on State Street is consuming the legal mind-altering liquid, and over on Library Mall, they're pushing the illegal mind-altering substance, with merchandise and music.

ADDED: The band you see in the clip is Venice Gas House Trolley.

I want a tied-dyed Wisconsin Badgers tee-shirt to commemorate the big day.

Putting the Wacko in Madison Wacko.

Seriously though. I've been to Nebraska a small number of times. The Madison folks really need to stop belittling that state. It make you people look small and ignorant.

Hope the FBI is taking pictures and writing down name. Idiots.

There's some strategic belittling that needs to get started in about 2 minutes.

I always thought marijuana was in some ways like basil or rosemary, which don't really have a "harvest," but rather are harvested as one needs. Even if marijuana reaches peak potency at a certain time, I doubt potheads are the type to wait patiently for that day to arrive. As a teenager, I noticed none of my pot smoking and growing friends were ever successful at the growing part. The poor plants weren't two weeks out of germination before being torched! The shame. But then, it's pretty hard growing twelve of anything in your closet.

Where two or three are passing a joint in his name, Ben Masel is there.

Don't bogart or get it all wet, Ben would not approve.

Don't call that stuff "illegal." The correct term is "undocumented."

Hops is a close relative of marijuana, close enough that you can graft one on to the other. I have a reliable source that says you can grow clandestine pot by grafting hops scions on to marijuana roots. I always wanted to try making beer with that.

you wouldn't see a hippie hoedown like that in Lincoln.

The, uh..., "music" says it all.

I don't suppose it would make a difference to any of those people, who, I'm sure, think tobacco is a noxious weed, to know marijuana is far worse for one's health.

PS Love the voter registration stand.

After all, the country is in desperate need of more stoned voters.

Has anybody checked on the diversity of the Wisconsin team? Just asking.

Great, they still have the pulpit down on the mall! Back in my day there was a black preacher, with white hair and beard who had completely blown out his vocal cords lecturing (Hell and damnation!) passing, indifferent students. Who would occasionally shout right back at him.

Masel was around in my time, initially as a write in candidate candidate for [just about any] office, then as this advocate for these lame industrial uses of hemp. I think he wore hemp clothing, which was not really stylish. The fall festival always seemed to me to be an excuse fro every HS kid for about 70 miles to come to Madison and get stoned in public.

Sorry I couldn't have been there to enjoy more of the...music?

I like the shirt at the very end: "Cops say Legalize Drugs. Ask me Why"

The worse health risk that a marijuana smoker faces is getting caught. We need to quit wasting Billions&Billions every year on this failed policy.

Truth is weed in excess is bad, but so is pretty much anything. We need to focus on combating meth and decriminalize/legalize weed.

Maybe if they wore uniforms
And marched in rows

Jocks and stoners. Please explain to me why each generation of "students" must replicate this predictable lifestyle divide along such consistent lines.

I was down and about one of those when the gathering was on the capital lawn. The crowd gathered and some woman not too far from me was trying to get a "Legalize It" chant going, wasn't working.

The police then arrested someone on the edge of the crowd and like a big flock of birds turning in unison the crowd erupted in perfectly synchronized chants of "BS" (though fully stated). It was amazing.

The cause is just, but the main proponents are self-defeating.
