Cabins... cabins...

.... cabins...

That's just page 1 of 23, so find the "Next" link at the bottom and keep going.

Freakin' awesome. Reminds me of the first time I saw "The Whole Earth Catalog". I just loved those whacked together interpretations of what dwellings were or might be.

I only browsed one page and thought, "So many of these picture look like something at Unhappy Hipsters."

Some very cool ideas there.

A cabin certainly conjures ideas of refuge for many. Just an extension of fort-building we did as kids, away from our parents. Usually in the woods. Where we hid our beer.

Gerry. Unhappy Hipsters is the best! Pretentious architecture meets the inner desire for comfort and a bleak hilarity blossoms. I have the sense that they are closer to reality than gentle mockery.

Somehow I don't think Davy Crockett would recognize many of those.

That's funny -- I came across a video just this morning about a little tree-house someone put up (one you could actually stay in, not a kid's tree-house). I was going to email you a link to this, since you'd had some interest in those tiny micro-houses.

But then I watched the video and decided it was a little too lame: The "tree" house was on stilts and only about 5 feet off the ground.

Mine. In the Smokey Mountains, near Gatlinburg.

Michael -- nice cabin. A little salty, though; do you give an Althouse commenter discount?
