"I hope you're not making a movie," I say...

... in this little Meade-made thing I call "Walking with Abby."

Why is it so much greener in Madison? I'm jealous, I'm not THAT far east of you.

Abby is ready for her Close-up Mr. DeMeade.

With a dog like Abby, you go for an afternoon drag.

I've been told by dog people that dogs only do what you let them do. Maybe they never met Abby.

No training treats for Ann?

I see you're of the "no choke chain" genre. I could say stupid, but I'll just say silly..particularly w/ a big dog like this.

Halti leads work pretty well. I had to use them with my dog that pulled too much, and I was afraid the dog might damage his throat. The Halti applies just enough pressure to the dog's nose to encourage them not to pull.

So is Abby a permanent family member, now? :-)

Abby's run is more of a trot

Did Meade do that running backwards or did have that little head-camera thing on backwards while he ran normally?

I've taught the heel at four months owing to every Doberman pup going into 4-wheel drive on walks and becoming steam-breathing master-draggers, left to his own choice.

Teaching the heel takes about ten seconds.

rhardin, You are correct. I hardly need to leash our dog.

You are ruining this dog!

It has no discipline and is walking YOU. It may seem cute now because Abby is a puppy, but later a large dog and especially some St Bernards need to be well trained to heel, sit, stay and NOT to be thinking that they are the leader. The dog is not paying any attention to the person holding the leash, who is supposed to be the leader/controller and is instead being taught to run ahead, ignore the leash holder and is being taught terrible terrible discipline.

DBQ, Bingo! I want to scream when I see people letting dogs bite on the leash, a cardinal sin!

Dogs are like children, they need and WANT boundaries, training and discipline. However, you shouldn't put kids on a leash..that's wierd @ best. Just teach them to heel.
