Chelsea has her baby.

It's a girl, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.

ADDED: Charlotte is a name that's been spiking in popularity recently. Presumably, the popularity will crash now that a specific famous baby has that name and all the many other baby Charlottes will be irked at their name-fate.

I mean, look what happened to the name Chelsea.

Hmmm. "Charlotte" was supposedly the girl option when Kate and William had George.

Do you think Chelsea stole it?
Do you think Kate and William can still use the name if the Clintons have a "Charlotte"?

ps. Love that name

How is this related to rosemary?

I gotta admit though, my respect for her help rapin' dad has gone up over the years. It is a hard job and his inability to do it perfectly is not a stain on his character, at least he thought of the opposition as human, unlike the latest crowd of Democratics.

Keep that bundle of joy away from Mayor de Blasio or there'll be more than just a story spiked.

OMG...The first child ever born in the USA!!! This will be all we hear about now.

Re name theft: For obvious reasons, Mrs. Mezvinsky (blame Patriarchy!) had to steer away from the name "Hope," and "Esperanza" just looks awkward with Mezvinsky, as well as bringing to mind a children's book set in the Great Depression. And "Blythe Future" just didn't quite work either, especially with paperwork that must be publicly registered.

Chelsea is not such a special word with some profound meaning -- it is just a name. But there is something to a 'famous' person appropriating a name and not even knowing or appreciating the full import of it. Maya Angelou is the culprit. She gave an explanation that she took the name Maya because her brother nicknamed her that or some such stupid reason.
On the other hand, the word Maya in Sanskrit means mystery, profundity, magic of life/God and so on. I would like to name a child Maya because that is what it is, but this stupid 'famous' woman took that word away and without even knowing what it meant. I would not want other people to think I was celebrating this woman if I named a child Maya. It still irritates me that she robbed and took away something precious from people.

I wish Charlotte a less complicated family dynamic than her mother has.

Just the opposite in my mind. That would be a fabulous name. "Esperanza Mezvinsky."

I agree with David.

There was no announcement made of Charlotte's birth weight. Wonder why.

Mazel Tov!

I can identify with Charlotte. Jewish father, Shiksa mother. I can find no mention of Chelsea converting. Mine did. Totally irrelevant, really. Too bad she didn't get a decent middle name.

If I had a barn full of shits, I wouldn't give a single one for this news. A scion of two criminal families--it'd be a miracle if she turned out all right.

Did NBC News gift-wrap a $300,000 per year make-work job for Charlotte at the baby shower?

I was thinking "Freddie" if it were a boy, and "Fannie" if it were a girl.

Is the alleged "Mezvinsky" guy actually a real person? I saw some local (Pittsburgh) TV coverage of the birth this morning, and the only adults I saw pictured were Billary and Chelsea.

Martha makes a good point. It is disconcerting to not see a birth weight listed, nor the condition of the mother. The announcement was made in April, merely five months ago. Unless she was already four months along, this baby arrived early.

Maybe they will call her Lottie! That was my grandmother's name!

I'm sure young Charlotte already has a check for her first book advance in the mail.

Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital is world-renowned for its maternity, women's and children's services and is home to the West London Gynecological Cancer Center.
Delusions of grandeur?

Has Limbaugh compared the infant to a dog yet? The voice piece of the conservative movement always has such good quips on things like this.

White people of privilege giving birth to yet another white person of privilege. Are black people supposed to care? In a just world the baby's first words after "Mama" should be "reparations"...

It is turtles all the way down...

Chelsea should call her baby Billary.

Kate and William will call theirs Elizabeth or Mary or Anne.

Sudden rise in popularity of the name Chelsea? I attribute to Joni Mitchell, Chelsea Morning, 1969: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXe95iTtci0

Not as many people listened to Chelsea Hotel No. 2, I wager:

I hope the child is not dark skinned, else the fabulous quipsters on MSNBC will be showing family photos and singing "one of these things is not like the others.....".

The voice pieces of the lefty movement always have such good quips on things like this.

My wish for little Charlotte is that her four grandparents regard her as the most important thing in their lives, more important than wealth, political office, public adulation, fame, and fortune.

That would be best for the grandparents, too.

But I don't have much hope.
