I think it's so fun when people where their house slippers out to restaurants.

The clothing brand Op markets some beach shoes that look sort of like house slippers. I picked a pair up for $15.99 at Walmart. They are comfy and I wore them to work a few times.

Was looking for a book on Sarbanes-Oxley regs at B&N yesterday. Saw the title "Dark Pools & High Frequency Trading for DUMMIES" on the shelf in the Business section.

For dummies, huh. Really?

Some people, maybe just one, IDK, are putting up orange ribbons on the telephone poles in towns around the prison at Dannemora, in support of the warden who was relieved.

Yeesh! The rot went deep with that place.

This summer has been way too cold. Althouse's wish that grown men not wear shorts has been granted, at least in the Midwest.

So if the Dukes of Hazzard has been pulled from TV Land due to the flag on the car "Genera Lee" does that mean that the song "California Girls" by Katy Perry gets pulled too, since it mentions "Daisy Duke"?

I am just wondering how far this cultural airbrushing goes in a free country where artistic freedom and freedom of speech are highly valued, supposedly.

If polygamy becomes legal, which group do you expect to indulge in it first and most frequently? Celebrities, NBA basketball stars, Mormons, or Muslims?

We are without an air conditioner this summer. With my luck I figured this would be the hottest summer ever, but so far, so good.

One is a great thinker. The other now is a pop culture whore.

You must not live in the Midwest. You'll see guys in shorts in January if we get what amounts to a "warm" spell...like high 30's.

I was out walking on Saturday. I saw a guy sweeping his driveway wearing shorts and fluffy fleecey house slippers. Well, naturally I thought of althouse (it was only a few blocks from her house!)

And yes: WAY too cold here. Wearing fleece on the bike ride into work in July? No. Yet that's what I did today so I wouldn't freeze.

Curious George,

Are you a mailman in Ann Arbor, Michigan? When I lived there the mail man for the downtown and campus area always wore shorts, even in the winter. He looked a little bit like Fluff, Tiger Woods ex-caddy.

Oh yes. I saw it and it is a terrific movie, if bit dated.

Today would be much nicer without the pall of smoke from Canada overhead that is robbing us of 3 or 4 degrees!

It's piping hot in Southern Germany, almost 100 degrees. Am now watering my plants, bushes, trees, rose garden morning and evening. There's no shortage of water, we're getting it straight from the river. I can't stand the heat. I'm such a clouds and 60s person. M&M, you've been around a long long time. Me too <[: *)

@TiminVT: Yup. Alaska is also having a very extensive early burn season.

Well it hasn't stopped raining here in a month. We got fat rain, skinny rain, sideways rain, gentle rain, thundery rain..

I would have been happy had they gotten some of it. My garden is basically drowned and the heavy clay soil is just a mess to work in.

The great thing about transsexuals: you can be fucking someone in the ass, discover the partner's errant penis, and say "I'm not gay, she's a transsexual."

You caught me.

I didn't say that first, Hugh Grant did.

Fucking Brits.

And fuck that fucking transsexual Liz Hurley.

I am Laslo.

Laslo Spatula said...

The first time me and Scarlett Johhanson were alone in a bedroom she stripped down to her panties and got under the sheets; I remember Roxette's' "She's Got The Look" was playing -- Scarlett loves eighties Swedish Pop.

Note: it is the Roxette song, not the Prince-and-Sheena Easton song "You Got the Look": that's the one with these lyrics:

You've got the look, you've got the hook
U sho'nuf do be cookin' in my book
Your face is jammin'
Your body's heck-a-slammin'
If love is good, let's get 2 rammin'
U got the look, U got the look

Which all apply to Scarlett, but that wasn't the song.

Anyway.

I put my fingers in the sensual foreplay position, only to think I FOUND A COCK!

I am naked in bed with Scarlett Johannson and there are TWO COCKS UNDER THESE SHEETS! One of those mine, throbbing, to clarify.

She then smiles and utters a breathy laugh as she pulls the yellow polyurethane dildo from the front of her panties.

So: Scarlett Johannson does NOT have a cock.

But she has a sexy sense of humor.

I am Laslo.

Wrong.

You actually couldn't be more not right; you've beaten the record Twain spoke of in regards to Fennimore Cooper.

Not that any of you fools can handle reality, which is why you insist on your damn sobriety, but Edie Brickel pummeled the shit out of lil' Paullie Simon.

Bruce thought "I can't do that... as a man."

Say lah vee.

Oh that's right...

THEM.

Well, count me in. An honest socialist is an obscurity rarer than some billionaire these days, after all.

All hereby intends to include the greatness of running water, heat, and, oh yeah, food abundant for all; ironically to past generations but not to ours the poor have food in abundance to the extent it hurts them physically and robs their lifespan sans the seven sins but specifically here something starting with a g a can't remember.

Irony again folks.

It's hotter than Hell in Western Washington. Usually our June's are a mix of downpours and very temperate sunshine (frequently in the same hour) but this year it's been 80's/90's the whole month and no relief in sight. It sucks. Our temperate summers are supposed to be the payoff for the eight months of rain. On the up side, my cucumbers are going apeshit.

Of course "two views" is idiotic, but idiocy can, and has been, a greater teacher than other-than-idiocy.

Whatever you do, don't start to think about Jeff Goldstein and Protein Wisdom.

That won't get you clicks or money.

What it will get you though, is, in approximation, what "How To Win Friends And Influence People" got America.

Other-than-some ratted-in tattered-out despot-orgy how's about this:

Recognition that Bill Bennett wants with his mighty intellect (fuck off Bennett that "mighty" was bullshit to feed your idiotic supporters suppositions I might not hate you and you might have some cum point other than "lock em up Statewise or Educate them Statewise or Rehab them Statewise or GODWIN GODWIN GODWIN statewise).

No answer pays Bill Bennett's bills other than statewise.

Jeff Goldstein told you this years ago, and you did what?

You paid people to tell your candidates that you are crazy rubes.

Children die therefore the second amendment must die; evil otherwise.

Statewise is the only answer and it's there in Spades, as in the Ace of Spades blog.

Statewise is the new newspeak. newsspeak.

I read, on the the shitter taking my ten minute shits, Brave New World.

What have you done?
