Has Althouse given up tags?

Perhaps you've noticed the lack of tags lately and wonder if this is some new sleeker version of the blog, less attentive to the secrets of the deep archive.

The answer is no. I'll add the tags when I get back to my desktop computer. Right now, I'm stranded in Lake Las Vegas with only a laptop (and iPad and iPhone) and no mouse, only the built-in trackpad. Just doing the usual cuts and pastes and the links and (hardest!) photo embeds is maxing out my patience.

I played golf at the LLV golf course. Where Celine Dion live(s,d?).

At a tee box near the road, a guy drove up in his Porsche with his girlfriend (his description) in the passenger seat and asked us if we wanted to see her tits.

We actually said no. It was just too weird. Also, we were a business group.

No it was not Celine.

Not that we would've said yes to her.

I mean, why?

I noticed, and I wondered whether the last tags posted on the blog would be "boredom" and "Donald Trump."

"boredom" and "Donald Trump."

Ha!

@Irene Ha ha.

@Livermoron Sounds like somebody lost a bet or was playing Truth or Dare or something. Funny, but not unfathomable.

Hi, Meade. I miss you!

I don't understand your difficulties with the track pad. I'll assume that you are acquainted with the command key, and the control key.

I think you can buy a mouse in Staples. And if you do an Internet search, you can probably find a cheaper place. Try a liquidating place.

I never got used to trackpads. they do make a smaller mouse, which works well when traveling. Beautiful country BTW.

Hi, Meade. I miss you!

You left him at home???....which is none of my business, but after all the long trips in the TT I assumed that you liked to travel together. I mean, there's not a lot of room for forgiveness in a TT.

Again, none of my business.

You can probably even buy a keyboard, somewhere, for $10 or so.

Isn't Las Vegas the locale of a big computer show? Comdex. There must be peripheral business? Oh, it stopped in 2003. Now they have the Consumer Electronics Show.

They've got COMDEXVirtual now, since 2010. (Although the Wikipedia article I gleaned that from, doesn;t know what happened in 2011.

Everything is on the Internet nowadays, and that means waiting for snail mail delivery.

There's http://www.interop.com/lasvegas/ - next May.

Anyway, look up Craigslist, Computer repair. 99 cent stores.

@madAsHell

The command key is on Macs and the Ctrl key on PCs.

And then there are touch screens. They are just making thing harder and harder to use.

Maybe voice input might be good. That's the only way to go with tiny devices. I don;'t know why they are so late to add them.

Hurry back. Miss me, not your flight home.

I have ten mice back home. I forgot to bring one. I'm saving time by not doing the tags until I get back. I don't want to do something else, like shopping, which is even more boring than doing tags with a clumsy trackpad.

Plus, I only do Apple products.

Anyway, I tend to solve problems by doing the most efficient thing (unless the time-spending solution is fun (and I don't enjoy going to an Apple store that much)).

This was a plane trip. Both of us are picky about travel, and for family things, like this, both of us have gone without the other.

We like to stay home together.

I get it. Althouse is taking a sunset cruise on Lake Meade. Very romantic.

I use the ctrl key to right-click on the track pad.

Admittedly, the ctrl key is has much more functionality associated with it on Windoze relative to a Mac.

Ms. Althouse: I've been to Vegas 30+ times.... I used to put on an MC some international tech conferences at the former Aladdin stage.... It's now the Planet Hollywood.... and if you think that was outside the norm for Vegas??? From the Midwest are you?

The reason what happens there stays there is because no one will believe you.

If you manage to stop by the Clark County government center in las Vegas make sure to say hi. I've been reading your blog daily for a number of years since I lived on La Crosse. Just relocated to las Vegas in June. Be careful there is a heat advisory out

Check with your concierge. He or she probably has several dozen that previous guests have left behind
