"Well look, I know Al Sharpton better than I know you and I dealt with him for years and years and years and you know when he’s not political he says oh I love Donald Trump, I love Donald Trump..."

"... but I will say – in fact, he came up to my office not so long ago to apologize because on his show, which is now off the air which is a fortunate thing, he called me a racist and he came up, he literally came up to my office and he apologized to me, which, by the way I thought was very nice... You know Al is just doing his thing, Bill. He does his thing, we all do our own thing, he was doing his thing and he continues to do it."

Al's show is off the air? Why didn't any of his 5 viewers tell us?!

Al just supplies what the market demands.

The market being soap opera women.

I dunno if anyone lived in New York City pre-1970, but there was a concept known as "protection" i.e., the neighborhood bullies would broach the shop-owners and gently ask them to buy their "protection" services from any potential physical damage to the property.

If they paid, surprise, surprise, they got peace. If they didn't pay, surprise, surprise, periodically, they got bricks thrown thru their windows.

Al & Jesse have mastered the art of the modern day protection racket. Trump understands this as well.

We're all doing our thing is the most honest thing a politician has said in awhile. We all prepare a face to meet the faces that we meet.

I saw that last night. I thought Trump was just shrugging off Al Sharpton as if to say, "I know there are people out there that take Al seriously, but in New York, he's just one of our local clowns".

Trump didn't even seem pissed that Sharpton had called him a racist. Sharpton obviously doesn't believe the things he says either.

Maybe Putin is right.

I've written here for some time that the best way to understand Trump is through the WWE lens. He's Donald "The Businessman" Trump who will Make America Great Again ©. He will Build a Wall. He will hire "Top Men" to make great deals. Other details unimportant.

Wow. Hating of the Trump is Strong this week. But so far all of the incoming is a pretended twisting of his words...by pussies from cult Texas by way of Canada.

The Great Reagan that smooth Cruz wants to claim is him was an entertainer too. And like Trump he gave respect to the mini theocrats of religious Conservatism, but he was Hollywood values all of the way down and they
make New York Value seem tame by comparison.

Everything considered, other details ARE unimportant.
All the talk of political philosophy and policy and economics and what have you are pretty much a dead letter the moment a President gets in office.
You are not buying a program, because the distance between intention and delivery is extremely uncertain and loaded with unintended consequences. And then there are of course 'events, dear boy, events'(Harold Macmillan), that tend to drive out whatever intentions they came in with.
Candidates who rattle on about these things are using marketing patter just as much as Trump. The trouble, some of it, is they may believe some of this stuff themselves.

What you really are voting for is a personality and a political clique.

Do black people even pay any attention to Sharpton anymore? Or is it completely and only the enemedia?

It's funny. Fairly or not, I kinda look at Sharpton and Trump as different sides of the same coin. They're both showmen at heart. They're both unapologetic self promoters. They've both said outrageous things that they really don't believe at one point or another. And they've both exploited people at times, though to be fair, I think Sharpton has done far more damage with his exploitation than Trump ever has. To me, Trump brushing this off and acknowledging that Sharpton is "just doing his thing" is almost like 'game recognizing game' to use hip hop parlance.

Only when he's calling someone they hate racist. Coincidentally this is also the only time white leftists pay any attention to him.

Nice work Amielalune. Your enemedia is a portmanteau I can appreciate. The ambiguity is luscious: it can be enemy + media or enema + media with equally delightful connotations. Let's face it, we are all getting tired of MSM or lamestream or drive-by media. It's nice to have a new epithet for those juicebox-sucking sycophants.

The fact that Bernie spent a six hour breakfast with him speaks volumes.

Hate, hater, hating. What an overused set of words. They are so overused, they should be relegated to the trash heap of history.

Tradguy, I don't think you have a clue what the word hate means. In today's vernacular, it means "to disagree". But have fun with it. While you at it throw in a little racism and sexism and you would have the hat trick.

In the WWE lens, he's a mega-babyface who routinely outwits the evil Mr. McMahon and who isn't afraid of a large black man with almost no teeth who eats worms on camera as part of his gimmick.

Just sayin'.

Reasonable scrutiny of a Presidential Candidate is not hate.

Trump repeated a profanity and then grinned like a baby as he pretended he had no responsibility for his own words. He did this knowing there were children in the audience and that his statement would be played on TVs across America. You repeat the comment about 'pussies' because you think it's badass. It's very stupid, and if you think this is how Reagan would have handled it you're out of your mind.

America deserves a lot better. It amazes me how much Trump fans complain that Trump is held accountable, but Trump's the guy who got in front of the cameras and behaved like that.

Al Sharpton, Jimmy Carter, and Nancy Pelosi would all pick Trump out of the GOP field. You have every right to be on their side and oppose conservatism. Others have every right to point out the folly of doing so.

mccullough said...

Trump is obnoxious, but entertaining. He criticizes W as hard as Obama, which is a rarity for a candidate in either party. This is a public service. The people Trump criticizes deserve criticism as much as Trump does.

It's bizarre that Jeb and other criticize Trump's coarseness and profanity. Trump didn't send American troops to get killed in a useless war like Jeb's brother. People care far too much about words and not action. I could care less how politicians talk. Talk is for lawyers and politicians. Actions are what matter. W and Obama are feckless. They are nice guys and well mannered. But I'm not like David Brooks. I don't care about manners and elegance in my politicians. I care about pragmatism and competence. If they are also well spoken and well mannered, then all the better.

A war approved of by Hillary, Kerry, and Biden. That makes three dem presidential candidates, two of whom went on to become secretary of state and one of whom became vice president.
This was a bipartisan war, and it is only by the relentless efforts of the anti-Bush media that it is made out to be Bush's war.

Sharpton has no money. He must be able to deliver votes in key areas. Otherwise no politician would give him the time of day, even if he was the squeaky-clean pastor of a miracle-working Black church in the ghetto.
Dem politicians court him for the same reason that GOP politicians court religious conservative leaders. The difference is that the religious conservative leaders aren't one subpoena away from a jail term. Well, most of them.

Following up on Terry's take-down of McCollough, not only did many Democrats vote in favor of the war against Sadaam Hussein (before things got tough), but when the war was "over", in his 2012 reelection campaign Obama took credit for the victory: Obama to troops at Fort Bragg, North Carolina: “We’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq.” It COULD have been a great victory for freedom and for the US; certainly American and allied troops won that victory. But Obama pissed it away, as he pissed away so much that America accomplished over the (pre-Obama) years.

Pussy is not a profanity. That is just fake outrage because you are a hater. I am a Cruz supporter but the things his campaign are doing are not cool.

"America deserves a lot better. It amazes me how much Trump fans complain that Trump is held accountable, but Trump's the guy who got in front of the cameras and behaved like that."

So who do we deserve? Rubio? The liar and betrayer? Jeb? Kasich? Which GOPe bootlicker would you prefer?

"Al Sharpton, Jimmy Carter, and Nancy Pelosi would all pick Trump out of the GOP field. You have every right to be on their side and oppose conservatism. Others have every right to point out the folly of doing so."

This is absolute garbage and you know it. Dem's would take anyone in the republican field except for Cruz or Trump. Yes even the liar Marco who would sell us all out for a cookie from his friend Chuck Schumer.

Trump must have been doing his thing when he hired 200 illegal Polish workers to clear the way for Trump Towers, paying them $5/hr or less, off the books. And using a pseudonym he admitted he had to threaten the illegal's lawyer with a lawsuit.
He was just doing his thing when he denied, denied, denied, he knew anything about it even though several illegals testified they had gone to him to see about wages, was it?
The 'dispute' was settled in '99 and the records conveniently sealed.
